AMF Mesa Results - 05/05/2013

Location:

Another incredibly fun weekend with the SFT family! We had more story lines this week then we could handle! There were 89 entries, 23 cashers, a 1 in 3.8 cash ratio and over $3,500.00 paid out for this weekend’s event at AMF Mesa. The bowlers bowled on a 42ft modified house that was one of the easiest patterns we have ever bowled on. It was very similar to a house shot but with a bit more oil. The scores all weekend were HUGE! We had a +177 for 2 games by Hokey Begay! A 300 game by Scott Sparks, which was his first USBC sanctioned 300 game. Also Susan O’Hara bowled her highest scratch game ever of 257 in the process of a +134 series. Dylan Taylor had the highest 3 game series with handicap of +211! Mike Bohe made a huge return back to the SFT AHT with the highest 3 game scratch series of 759! Great bowling to all of you! It’s always fun and exciting to have an event from time to time on easier conditions.

We also want to welcome all of the new members that bowled this event! Kyle Freeman, Robbie Adair, Carl Caver Jr., and Mike Albert, welcome to the family! A special congrats to Robbie and Kyle for making it into the quarter finals in their first ever SFT AHT event! Great bowling guys! Also congrats to Kylee Bonneville, Mike Bohe, and Scott Sparks who also all made it to their first SFT AHT quarterfinals. Scott Sparks as well as Dylan Taylor showed the POWER OF THE PARLAY by advancing all the way to the quarter finals off of the economy parlay! Congrats to all of you!

Momma’s mystery score has been one heck of a roller coaster this season! I can’t tell you how much fun the addition of this side event has been. The overall excitement it has added to the club each and every squad right after game 2 is unparalleled. For the longest time players had two opportunities to win $500 while the 3rd pot was growing! We had small winners like Jai Janoe for $85, Mike Scimone for $120 and Ben Dewberry for $220. This weekend we had two winners: Chris Wheat took home $165 and Kylee Bonneville took home the largest pay out so far from Momma of $500! The craziest thing, is he won the $500 on the 10pm, Wednesday night squad which was the smallest squad we had all week! You just never know when you can win, and what score it will take. There is still $500 left to win out of Momma’s first pot, and it could be yours!

Moving in to the semi-finals, we had 3 bowlers from each division advance to the semi-final round. The A division had #1 seed Kylee Bonneville, #2 seed Ben Dewberry and #3 seed Joe Yannacci. The B division had #1 seed Tom Large, #2 seed Chris Huglin and #3 seed Hokey Begay. Both division matches weren’t very close, both winning players had the lead the majority of the way. After it was all said it done, our final match would be between Ben Dewberry and Chris Huglin.

The final match wasn’t close but it was exciting! Ben Dewberry who has been in a title match before, but didn’t win, started with the front 8 strikes. The really exciting part was that it was with a Track bowling ball! Track has incentives for free Track bowling balls. There is one incentive for winning the event with a track ball, and one for shooting any 300’s or 800’s with a Track ball. Ben had the opportunity to win 2 balls in 1 game! He had the front 8 strikes with the 505A but a pulled shot in the 9 cut it short. He still defeated Chris Huglin and took home the $1,000! Ben has had some victories in our fun events, including the last time we were at AMF mesa for the criss cross doubles but this is his first standard event title and $1,000.00! It should be said though that Chris really gave Ben a run. He wasn’t completely shut out until the last frame. Chris bowled this event with a new two handed delivery that gave him more power and revs, but less consistency. For the conditions this weekend, the speed and power proved to be more valuable than the consistency.

We look forward to seeing you all at our next event at Glenfair Lanes on May 18 th! It will be our baker doubles event, which is always a lot of fun. We take next week off and follow it up with a fun event to give bowlers time to sharpen up and get their money saved up for our big $1,500.00 Memorial Day weekend event! We will see you all there!
