AMF McRay - 5/21/17

Location:

Our event this weekend was at AMF McRay Plaza lanes and it was a big one! We had a great turn out with over 80 entries in two squads. The total numbers were 84 entries, 23 cashers, a 1 in 3.5 cash ratio with a payout of over $4,000.00 in main and side event prize fund. Most importantly we had 68 qualifying entries which allowed us to pay $1,000.00 for first! The players bowled on a 35ft boardwalk oil pattern that had low scoring to start, but really opened up in the 2nd squad. Most bowlers on the first squad didn’t even bowl average, and the ones on the 2nd squad were most of the daily leaders for the two squad event. Pretty much all players that had success played to the outside of the lane. It was very difficult to play the middle of the lane because the pattern was so short.

We also had a bunch of new bowlers join the SFT AHT this weekend! Jamie Milczarski, Derek Hamm, Gary Hamm, Jim Knauf, Johnny Garcia, Kevin Werden, Michael Killgore, Patrick Sheridan, and David Yitts all bowled in their first ever SFT AHT this weekend. We hope you all had  good time and look forward to seeing you again. A big congrats to Jamie Milczarski and Johnny Garcia on being new bowlers who also advanced to the quarter finals in their first event. Also congrats to Eric Carroll who was this event’s only parlay power player and who dominated for most of the day.

The quarter finals were all pretty close with the average cut score to advance requiring scores slightly above average. The A division had #1 seed Steve Gerken taking on Wes Marema, B had #1 seed Ben Wacks taking on #2 seed Mark Brower who defeated Lynn Arthur in an exciting 9th and 10th frame roll off. Him and Lynn tied at +75. The C division was #1 seed Eric Caroll vs #2 seed Logan Spencer. There were some exciting finishes with Mark Brower only winning by a handful of pins in B divison and Steve Gerken needing a strike in the fill frame to win his match by 1. Steve wasn’t able to strike which gave Wes the win. It also meant that all three lower seeds one their matches. Wes, Logan and Mark Brower.

The final match was close at the start but as the end of the game approached Logan really pushed into the lead by staying clean and throwing some strikes when he needed to. He won by about 40 pins over Wes who finished 2nd and Mark 3rd. This was Logan’s 3rd SFT AHT title in 3 title matches. He clearly is clutch when the pressure is on! Nice bowling to everyone and we look forward to seeing you all for our big Memorial Day weekend event at AMF Union Hills next weekend!
