AMF Christown Results - 7/26/15

Location:

Our event was at AMF Christown this Sunday, and we had a great time as usual. It was  a standard event which means that it was guranteed $1,000.00 for first place regardless of entries as long as you are in the progressive pot. These events always have a certain level of hype behind them, and people are excited to bowl for that kind of money. The event drew 70 entries (48 qualifying entries and 22 economy parlay entries), had 18 cashers, a 1 in 3.7 cash ratio and paid out over $3,000.00 in main and side event prizes! The players bowled on a 41ft Turnpike oil pattern that proved to play a little difficult for most people. The average cut score didn't even require players to bowl over their average.

We want to welcome Mark Mangerson, Logan Spencer, Maurice Russell, Joyce Cozby, John Cozby, Brian Mires, Alison Kozak, and Nick Polanski to the Strike Force Tour family. We are very excited to see the big influx in new bowlers in the last few events. It appears that people are really like the new entering average rule, that uses the sport average conversion chart provided by USBC. Not only are we having a lot more new bowlers come out, but we are also having brand new bowlers have success. At this event we witnessed three of 8 new bowlers advance to the quarter finals. This event and the event at McRay had great numbers like this. There was the same percentage of new bowlers in the quarter finals as there was in the field. This is a sign of a very fair enviornment for regular club members and new ones.

As always, we like to congratulate our parlay power players and first timers. The parlay power players were Jason Satterlee and Mark Mangerson. One player is a verteran and the other brand new. They both used the parlay to turn $25 into a spot in the quarter finals. Mark not only did this, but also made it to the quarters in his first event. However so did Alison Kozak, Mark Mangerson, and Nick Polanski. Also congrats to Nick Milho on making to his first quarter finals ever also.

The quarter finals scores were very low, except for two bowlers. Tina Williams and Jason Satterlee really pushed each other in the A division for that one spot into the final match. Both players bowled very well on very difficult conditions finishing over +100 for the quarter finals. However, Tina made the clutch shots in the 10th frame to allow her to just sneak by Jason for the A division spot. The B division was won by Ted McKay who defeated Tim Coogler, and the C division was won by Alison Kozak who was performing very well in her first ever event. She defeated Mark Mangerson, who was also in his first event.

The final match was a great one, going back and for the entire way. Tina had a missed spare in the middle and wasn't able to bounch back, but Ted and Alison were slugging it out. Alison had the lead most of the way and secured it a little bit more with a double near the end. However, Ted really showed his ability to be a champion with some great shots in the end to string a couple to force Alison to mark. Alison, in her first ever SFT AHT title match leaked the ball just a little to the right, leaving a 2,4,10 split. She wasn't able to convert which gave Ted a very impressive title match victory! Great bowling to Alison and Tina, showing how good the ladies are. Also, a big congrats to Ted who had a very gutsy performance in the final match. Ted was running out of gas going into the match, due to the 13 games and 40 minutes of practice time he had already bowled previously in the day. To throw the shots he needed at the end after bowling that much is very impressive. Oh, and did I mention that Ted is 64 years old! Pretty impressive stuff Teddy!

Thanks to everyone that came out and we look forward to seeing everyone at our next event at AMF Deer Valley!
