AMF Christown - 6/26/2016

Location:

This weekends event was at AMF Christown Lanes where we featrued our increasingly popular two squad format that is a "in and out" fast format. There is only two squads, and it doesn't feature a re-oil. The event drew a total of 60 entries (39 qualifying & 21 economy parlay), had 20 cashers, a 1 in 3 cash ratio and paid out over $2,500.00 in main and side event prizefund. The players bowled on the 40ft highway to hell oil pattern that was one of the lowest scoring patterns we have seen in quite a while. The average cut scores were all well below +45, which means that players didn't even have to bowl their average to advance to the quarter finals. Players were able to play all parts of the lane, but it didn't seem like the best scores came from players who could play a little further inside with a small belly.

We do want to welcome all of the new bowlers who bowled in their first SFT AHT event at this event. We want to welcome Timothy Satomba, Michael Fitzgerald and Sean McNeil to the SFT AHT family. We hope you all had a good time, and we congratulate Tim Satomba who also made it to the quarter finals as a first time bowler! Nice bowling Tim! Also congrats to relatively new comer David Krol on making another quarter finals as well.

We are moving into the 2nd half of the season which means the season points races are becoming more and more of a reality. Going into this event we already had a very tight race for senior, rookie and overall player of the year. There are several players in all of the categories that are only one tournament win away from taking the lead or being only a few points away. Azusena Munoz does have a very strong lead in the female player of the year race, but that isn't where her sights are set. She is also only a few points out of the lead for overall player of the year, which no female has ever won before. To say the least, it's going to be a fun race to the finish as we enter the 2nd half of the season.

The quarter finals also had very low scores, which left Shane Valleau coming out of the A division, Bill Brackett in the B division, and Armando Viramontes in the C division. Armando had the most on the line in the season points race, as he is in the hunt for rookie and overall player of the year and a win would have boosted him into real contention in both categories. Bill and Shane aren't as high, but a win would certainly help them in the quarterly circut. The match quickly became between Bill and Shane as Armando didn't get off to the best start. It went back and forth with Shane barely pulling it out in the 10th frame to get his 2nd SFT AHT title.

Thanks to everyone who came out to this event! We look forward to seeing you all at our next event at Brunswick Kyrene lanes next Sunday.
