We had another fun event this weekend at AMF Chandler Lanes! The event drew 110 entries, 30 cashers, a 1 in 3.6 cash ratio and paid out over $4,000.00 in main and side event prizes! The bowlers bowled on a 38ft custom pattern that we designed for this event. It gave the players something a little different to bowl on then what they have had in the past. It was higher scoring, a little easier with more free hook than usual, but transistioned quite a bit. The scores the first two squads were very up and down. However, both days the scores really went through the roof on the final squad. It seems like, on this squad, the oil settled down a little bit and offered the most consistent scoring conditons. We had some of the highest cut scores this weekend that we have ever had with the average cut being over +110!
As always we like to welcome to the new bowlers that came out to join us for their first event! Jon Pletches, Tim Regalado Taylor Curtright, Mark Stoner, Iggi Rodriguez, Jacob Hilton, Kenneth Smith, Lisa Smith, Austin Jacobson, and Tim Smith welcome to the SFT family! We always love the events that have a ton of new bowlers! There were a lot of new bowlers that also made it to their first ever SFT AHT quarter finals as well! Tim Smith, Lisa Smith and Ken Smith were all from Yuma and made it to the quarter finals together! Also congrats to Austin Jacobson who made it all the way to the semi-finals today! Also congrats to Brad Erickson, Logan Smith, and Jeff Arreola on making their first ever quarter finals this weekned!
The semi-final matches were all landslides with the winners of each match shooting 280 or higher with handicap. It was easy to assume that the final match was going to be a barn burner, but more ofthen then not the players can't seem to shake the pressure of a final match and bowl lower scores then what they have been bowling. A division champion Jason Saterlee defeated new comer Austin Jacobson. B Division champion Ryan Burt defeated first time semi-finalist Eric Flick and C Division champion Logan Smith defeated Zack Bryan.
The final match was an interesting one with people entering the match worried about how high of a score they were going to need to win. Logan Smith who had recently switched to one handed from two handed had been on fire all day. However, Ryan and Jason just came off of huge games as well. Logan started off the match clean with a three bagger. Jason and Ryan seemed to push as soon as that happened. It was too much to overcome the handicap of Logan with the performance he was also giving. While Jason and Ryan threw a couple strings to still be in the match, a couple opens from both of them ended their run a their first title!
