Our event this weekend was at AMF Chandler Lanes. There was a total of 106 entries (70 Qualifying Entries & 36 Economy Parlay) with 27 prize winners, and a 1 in 3.9 cash ratio, paying out just over $4,100.00 in main and side event prize funds. The players bowled on the 48ft Eifel Tower oil pattern. The scoring pace for the pattern was medium to high, with the inside part of the lane seeming to be the area where bowlers were able to score the most. Those playing the outside part of the lane found it very unforgiving.
We want to welcome Anthony Cady, Mark Hoerner, Mark Taylor, Joshua Leavitt, and Molly Wietzel to the SFT AHT family! We hope you guys all had a good time in your first SFT AHT event. Congrats to Josh Black on being this weekend’s only parlay power player! He was able to turn his $25 parlay investment into a spot in the semi-finals and a nice $190.00 prize! Congrats to Dishawn Byrd for winning Momma’s Mystery Pot, with a score of 151, for $20.00!!! Also, congrats to David Corcino for winning the drawing for a free plastic ball, with an option to upgrade to any high-performance Track bowling ball for $85.00!
The quarterfinals were played on a fresh oil pattern. The higher score pace remained. The A Division had #1 seed Greg Thompson Jr. (+197) taking on #2 seed Jonathan Ferrell (+117), the B Division would see Brian Schamber (+99) facing off against Josh Black (+49) and the C Division would feature David Corcino (+117) taking on Logan Spencer (+115). The A and C divisions were very close matches. Greg was able to hold off Jonathan to come away with a very close 3-pin win. The C division match would come down to the 10th frame, where both players suffered open frames. David was able to hold on and get the win. In the B division, Brian continued his good bowling winning his semi-finals match by over 60 pins.
The Final match would feature two players, Greg Thompson Jr. and Brian Schamber, who had both bowled in the USBC Masters tournament in Las Vegas this past week. Needless to say that the tough USBC Masters oil pattern helped get these guys sharp for this tournament. Just like the other finalist, David Corcino, all three bowlers were seeking their first ever AHT Strike Force Tour Title and $1,000.00!
The Final match was exciting as could be with all three bowlers bowling very well through the entire match. The match would finally be decided in the 10th frame. David needed to strikeout to put the pressure back onto his competitors, but the oil pattern was a little unforgiving in the area where David was playing, and he was unable to apply that pressure. He would finish his great day of bowling with a score of 246. Brian would get up and throw a clutch double in the 10th, for a score of 256, forcing Greg to double for the win. Greg would get up and hit the pocket a little light, leaving a two pin, giving Brian his first SFT AHT title and $1,000!!! Congrats to Greg and David as they both tied to split second/third place!
Thank you to everyone that came out to support our event! We look forward to seeing you all next Sunday, April 7th, at Brunswick Zone Kyrene for our next tournament! Hope you all have a great week!
