Brunswick Mesa Results - 9/1/14

Well we have all seen a line graph before, whether it’s in the stock market or in a math book. They all go up and at some point in time start to flatten out. I am excited to say that after two and a half years, the SFT AHT entry counts line graph is still going up! We were very excited to set another record of 249 entries at this year’s $1,500.00 Labor Day event. Our previous record was this year during Memorial Day weekend, and our Labor Day entries were up nearly 25% from last year’s 203 entries. This allowed for all of the guarantees to be increased like they were in past majors. The low to cash went from $80 to $90, semi-finalist that lost in round 1 got a minimum of $200 instead of the advertised $160. The semi-finalist that lost in round 2 got a minimum of $250 instead of $180. Additionally, the 3rd place finisher of the tournament got $500 instead of $400.

I have to tell you, time is a funny thing. It was nearly two years ago that with every tournament, we were talking about breaking our last entry record. Even then, I thought to myself that the “record” talk has to inevitably come to an end. However, at the time I didn’t foresee our growth turning into format changes and the addition of our new Minor formats which are one day events. Because of that, we are ironically talking about “breaking records” again on a frequent basis. I suppose that is kind of a spoiler alert to the fact that our event this Sunday broke our one day event entry record again and was also our very first one day event to have over 100 entries! The event drew 108 entries, had 27 cashers , a 1 in 3.8 cash ratio and paid out over $4,500.00 in main and side event prizes!

Well this is going to be a long event summary! There were a lot of exciting matches, some great background stories as well as some very exciting achievements reached by the club this weekend. The event drew 125 entries, 32 cashers, a 1 in 3.9 cash ratio and paid out over $5,000.00 in main side event prizes. The players bowled on the 40ft singles & doubles national's pattern this weekend which played very difficult on the fresh, but really opened up nicely as the day went on. The outside part of the lane was fairly off limits though. The inside part of the lane was very touchy on the fresh but, as the day went on some styles could really move left and open up the inside part of the lane. Most bowlers still couldn't throw it further right then 10 or 11 or it would stay right and never come back.

Our 3rd standard event of the 2014 season was another great one. So far through 5 events this season, we have had champions with averages in the 170's, 180's, 190's, 200's and now after this weekends event, a champion with an average in the 210's. It's pretty safe to say that this season is going to be a great one where all skill levels can compete! The event this weekend drew 117 entries, had 31 cashers and a 1 in 3.7 cash ratio. The one thing that can't be said enough about this weekend's event was the scores! HOLY COW WERE THEY HIGH! We have had 2 300 games total in the 20 months of running SFT AHT's. In this event alone we had FOUR!!

Well, every time we start a new season, it is always exciting. It is exciting to see if the clubs changes and additions from the previous season’s meeting make a difference. The main goal of our meeting in 2014 was to try to grow our A division in 2015. We wanted to get some new bowlers that weren’t eligible before and also restructure the division so that the A division and B division were closer in total entries.
