2017 Tournament Results

Brunswick Mesa - 8/20/17

The event today was another great one with 107 entries (72 qualifying & 35 economy parlay), 29 cashers and a 1 in 3.2 cash ratio. The event paid out over $4,000.00 in main and side event prize fund! The players bowled on a very tough 32ft Wolf oil pattern that had the most success out near the gutter early but as the oil carried down allowed players to have more success inside. The pattern can be confusing for some. Where most patterns get “dryer” and hook more as games are bowled, this pattern tends to do the opposite.

We also had a new bowler join us for this event! Joe Miller joined us for his first ever event this weekend! He traveled from Avondale for his first event and we hope he had a good time! We look forward to seeing you at the next one! We also want to congratulate John Jones on being this weekend’s only Parlay Power Player! Also congrats to Samm Cosby, Nick Devlin, Josh Black and Joe Banno on breaking some long quarter finals slumps!

Brunswick Kyrene - 9/4/17

Well our final major of the 2017 season didn’t disappoint! We were only a few entries away from our all time record, but did set some records in most entries ever in the 3 day sweeper and most amount of bowlers making their first ever quarter finals. The event had 247 total entries (149 qualifying – 98 economy parlay), had 66 prize winners, a 1 in 3.74 cash ratio and paid out just under $20,000.00 in main and side event prize fund!

Brunswick Desert Sky - 9/16/17

Our event this weekend was at Brunswick Desert Sky lanes! We had a great turn out with 90 entries (65 qualifying entries and 25 economy parlay), 24 cashers, a 1 in 3.7 cash ratio and paid out over $4,500.00 in main and side event prizefund. The players bowled on a 35ft Cheetah oil pattern that provided slightly higher cut scores then usual. Cheetah tends to be one of the easiest sport patterns, as it allows players to get some free hook on the gutter which is similiar to the house shot. However, it is still a sport pattern, and isn't a walk in the park. There isn't a lot of oil in the middle of the lane, like a house shot, so you have to get it to the outside friction or the ball will run high.

Glenfair Lanes - 10/7/17

Our event this weekend was at Glenfair Lanes. It was a last minute day change from Sunday to Saturday to avoid bumping up right with another tournament that was in the center the same day. The fact that it was a Saturday and the short notice change reduced the entries a bit, but we still had a good time and did some bowling. The event had 64 total entries (44 qualifying - 23 economy parlay) had 20 cashers, a 1 in 3.2 cash ratio and paid out just under $3,000.00. The players bowled on the 41ft Rome oil pattern which played very difficult. Most players either played further inside or no further outside then 10 or 12 board. The cut scores all day long normally only required players to bowl average or slightly below.

Mesa East Bowl - Standard

Our event this weekend at Mesa East Bowl was a two-squad standard, and sometimes that means less entries since there isn’t as many squads. Well it was jam packed with almost 50 bowlers per squad! We had a total of 93 entries (55 Qualifying & 28 Economy Parlay), 26 cashers, a 1 in 3.5 cash ratio and paid out over $4,000.00 in main and side event prize fund. The players bowled on a pattern we don’t use often that is a tough one to get used to. The PBA pattern Badger that is 52 foot in length. This is the longest oil pattern used in competitive play and “hooking” your ball into the pocket isn’t really an option at the beginning. You have to get used to your ball fading back high flush until they start to break down a little bit.

Brunswick Tri-City - 11/5/2017

Our event this weekend was at Brunswick Tri-City lanes on the 40 foot Brunswick Edge oil pattern. We had 82 entries (24 economy parlay & 58 qualifying entries), 22 cashers, a 1 in 4 cash ratio and paid out over $4,000.00 in main and side event prize fund. The players were really able to play a variety of angles on the pattern. Some played straight and some curved it a bit more. The cut scores for the divisions were all pretty even, with the C division being a bit higher. The cut for the day averaged around +40 to +50 which is bowling a small amount over average per game.

We had some more new bowlers join us for their first event at Tri-City. We want to welcome Stephen Sharpe, Cornelia Todecozy, Andres Chagolla, and Jose Colunga all bowled in their first event this weekend. We hope you all had a good time and look forward to seeing you at the next event!

Brunswick Via Linda - 10/26/2017

Our event this weekend was at Brunswick Via Linda lanes and we had another great turn out with 108 total entries (81 qualifying and 27 economy parlay), 29 total cashers, a 1 in 3.6 cash ratio and paid out over $5,000.00 in main and side event prize fund. We were also excited to pay out $1,000.00 for first place since there were enough qualifyig entries! The players bowled on a pattern, that I don't think we have bowled on yet, the 48ft Brunswick Max. This pattern is a bit different in the fact that it is very long but doesn't use a lot of volume for the length. This creates an odd transition as the lanes "dry out" but they dry out in the middle and front part of the lane. This causes the ball too hook early, so you have to move left. However, with most patterns you can continue to loop the ball more and more as they get drier because there are enough boards with no oil on them for the ball to continue hooking.

AMF McRay - 12/3/17

Our event this weekend was a big one with almost 100 entries in only 2 squads! We ended with 93 entries (66 qualifying and 27 economy parlay) had 27 cashers, a 1 in 3.5 cash ratio and paid out over $5,000.00 in main and side event prize fund. The players bowled on the 43ft Shark oil pattern that had pretty low scores. It was a long enough patter where missing to the outside normally meant the ball wasn't coming back, but wasn't long enough to create any kind of hold if you missed to the inside either. This forced players to be pretty accurate, but also allow them to play different parts of the lane. Our cut scores were all below the +30 mark, which meant that to advance didn't even require bowling over your average.
