2017 Tournament Results

Brunswick Mesa - 1/15/17

Well we are off the ground with our 6th SFT AHT season being kicked off at Brunswick Mesa. The event was a huge success with 120 entries (74 qualifying entries & 46 economy parlay), 30 cashers, a 1 in 4.7 cash ratio and a payout of well over $5,000.00 in main and side event prizefund! We want to thank all of our long time members and new bowlers for making the start of our season such a good one. The players bowled on the 38ft WTBA Atlanta oil pattern which had some very high scores.Players played a variety of angles and places on the lane from straighter around 2nd arrow, to deeper inside angles hooking the lane quite a bit. The average cut scores were around +80 which means the players had to bowl about 20-30 pins over average per game to make the cut. Which is  on the higher side of our normal cut scores.

AMF Christown - 1/29/17

Our event today was a huge success! We made a return to AMF Christown Lanes, and it drew 91 entries in 2 squads which is just under 50 bowlers per squad! A big thanks to the SFT family and all of the new bowlers coming out to help our season get kicked off with a huge bang! The 91 entries had 24 cashers, a 1 in 3.8 cash ratio and paid out over $4,000.00 in main and side event prize fund. The players bowled on the 35ft boardwalk oil pattern. It showed one of the biggest disparities between the scoring pace from squad 1 to squad 2. Squad 1, the lanes hooked a lot more and played more traditional to short patterns. However, as the oil carried down the scoring really plummeted. Squad 1 took scores like +100 to win the economy parlay, but the second squad ended up with cut scores that were barely plus at all.

Brunswick Kyrene - 2/19/17

Today’s event was at Brunswick Kyrene lanes and had another huge turn out! We had 124 total entries (81 qualifying entries & 43 economy parlay), 35 cashers and a 1 in 3.5 cash ratio! The event paid out over $5,000.00 in main and side event prizes.  The players bowled on a very tough 43ft Shark oil pattern that forced most players to play the middle part of the lane. After a handful of events that were short or had plenty of friction, this event was definitely a change in pace and certainly in ball speed.

Glenfair Lanes - 2/25/17

We had our first Saturday standard event in quite a long time! The event still had a good turn out with 75 total entries (56 qualifying and 19 economy parlay), 23 cashers and a 1 in 3 cash ratio. The players bowled on a 39ft winding road oil pattern that had very low scores early, but seemed to open up and allow for higher scoring as the day went on. Like usual with our medium length patterns, we get to see a good diversity of styles in the finals since the pattern allows for a variety of angles to be played. The straighter players had a decent line, and higher rev players could also move left and hook it a little bit with success. We want to extend a huge thanks to all of the members for supporting the event on a Saturday.

Brunswick Tri-City - 3/5/17

We were at Brunswick Tri City today and had another fantastic turn out! We had a total of 77 entries in two squads (50 qualifying entries & 27 economy parlay), 21 cashers a 1 in 3.8 cash ratio and paid out over $3,000.00 in main and side event prize fund. The players bowled on a very tough 32ft Wolf oil pattern that only has about half of the lane oiled. Those kind of league bowlers that get upset when there is “no oil on the lanes” aren’t the type for this pattern. However, the SFT is all about developing bowlers out of that line of thinking. Most of the players played to the right, near the gutter with the players that scored the best being around or right of the 1st arrow.

Brunswick Via Linda - 3/19/17

This weekend’s event was at Brunswick Via Linda lanes where we had 83 total entries (59 qualifying and 24 economy parlay), 23 cashers a 1 in 3.3 cash ratio and paid out over $4,000.00 in main and side event prize fund. The bowlers bowled on the 39ft PBA Viper oil pattern that was very difficult on the fresh, but seemed to breakdown and allow for some higher scoring. Over the years, it has also appeared that the lefties do fairly well in this particular bowling center.

As always we like to welcome the bowlers who bowled their first event with us this weekend. For the first time in a long time, we only had one new bowler! Rick Measels, welcome to the SFT AHT family! Hope to see you again buddy!

AMF Chandler Sweeper - 4/8/17

Our sweeper event had a great turn out for a Saturday! We averaged almost 20 bowlers per squad for a total of 56 entries. We paid out over $1,500.00 in main and side event prizefund. The players bowled on a very dry and hooking Shark pattern. While there were scores from all squads that cashed, the tournament winner led through all three squads. We also had a lot of new bowlers come out for their first event this weekend and some of them cashed as well. Congrats to Rick Barber, Brandon Watts, Dave Lloyd, Ron Goodnight Jr and Ron Goodnight Sr. on cashing in the event. A big congrats to Eric Flick on winning back to back events. He won our standard event at Burnswick Via Linda and followed it up by winning our fun Sweeper event to give him a very nice boost in the season points race! Check out the results below to see the rest of the cashers!

AMF Deer Valley - 4/16/17

Our event this weekend was at AMF Deer Valley and even though it was on Easter Sunday we had a great turn out of 73 entries (59 qualifying and 24 economy parlay), with 22 cashers a 1 in 3.3 cash ratio and a pay out of over $3,000.00 in main and side event prizes! The players bowled on the 38ft Atlanta patter n that proved to be very difficult. The cut scores were all very low being around +20, which means the players didn’t even need to bowl their average for series to advance. The pattern did allow for players to play a variety of angles though. There were players scoring from pretty much anywhere except extremely deep angles.

Mesa East Bowl - 4/30/17

Our event this weekend was at Mesa East bowl which always has a great turn out! Their league bowlers always come out to bowl and take a stab at the prize fund. The last time we were there, a league bowler there won his first ever title. That bowler was Mike Metzler and he was looking to go back to back in his home center. He was matched againt 78 other entries aiming to take the title! Of the 79 total entries there were 23 cashers, a 1 in 3.3 cash ratio and a payout of over $3,500.00 in main and side event prizefund. The players bowled on a 43ft PBA Chameleon oil pattern that started off playable and opened up more and more as the day went on. While the bowling center has the characteristic of creating some hook and some high scores, the pins however, really fly and it's very easy to have too much entry angle. The cut scores for the event were all in the +60's & 70's which means players had to bowl about 15 pins over average per game to advance.
